TOWN & COUNTRY/REGIONAL OPEN
In the spring, the Art League holds the the Town & Country Amateur Art Show (for amateur artists) and the Sharon Schmitz Regional Open Art Competition (for professional artists).
When: For exact dates, details and entry form, check announcements in local newspapers and our ONLINE CALENDAR OF EVENTS AND CLASSES.
Where: The entries are displayed in the Art League building, 320 N. Franklin St.
Who can enter: The Town & Country is open to amateur artists in two divisions: adults and juniors (ages 17 and under).
The Sharon Schmitz Open Art Competition is open to professional and experienced amateurs.
Awards: An outside juror selects the winning entries and provides a public critique during an artists' reception. Town & County winners receive ribbons, with blue ribbon winners eligible to enter the state-level Town & Country art show. Also, a People’s Choice Award is given, with the public voting on their favorite artwork. The Regional Open Art Competition winners receive cash awards ( first, second and third in each category, plus a Best in Show.)
How to enter: The March newsletter announces the show dates and includes an entry form with the contest rules and fees. If you are not an Art League member but would like to enter the show, you can request a copy of the newsletter and entry form by calling (217) 442-9264 or sending an e-mail at danvilleartleague@hotmail.com.
